Manners? A thing of the past?

When I was a kid, there were some other kids close to my age in the neighborhood and we commonly played together, especially during the summers since we were home all day at our houses with our moms or babysitters.  If we wanted to play together, we called or walked to their house and asked if they could come over.

Now, as some kids have moved into our neighborhood and our boys are older and interested in playing with other kids, I have to ask; are those manners we had as kids a thing of the past?

My experience with neighbor kids has not been positive thus far.  The lack of manners is bothersome.  It has brought on a whole new set of lessons to teach my boys about manners and politeness!
