May 23, 2014

This week I most remember that I was finally starting to feel a little better.  Not great, but better!

Mother's Day 2014

I know I'm late, but I just found this photo and loved it.  I was very blessed this year for mother's day with lots of flowers from the kiddos!

Ponytail

Back in May, Elinore finally started letting us put a ponytail in her hair!  Granted it rarely stays for long, but sometimes, it's there for awhile!

Nephew's Letter

My mother-in-law had decided we needed to take another old set of encyclopedias from her old place when she moved.  (This was maybe the 3rd set!)  We were looking through them as we were boxing them up to be donated and we found this gem of a note from our nephew Brennan.

Babies

At just under 2 weeks shy of her second birthday, Elinore is very interested in playing with her baby dolls now.  It's just started in the last week, but she's got them all over the family room now.  Since she's been playing with them so much I brought the wooden cradle, that was mine when I was a little girl, out of her room and into the family room for her and she's loving it.  She has blankets for them and a pillow and clothes.  She really likes to put them to sleep and say "baby seeping" and tell everyone to "shhh!"  I even got yelled at earlier this week for being too noisy when the baby was sleeping.  I hope she learns something from this for when she's a big sister later this year!

Baby on Board

During Elinore's pregnancy I wrote regularly here about our adventures in pregnancy.  Which right now I'm thinking would be nice to go a reread.  But that wasn't my point here, my point was that this time around, I haven't.  I sure with I'd do it, but getting the time and being motivated has been hard!  We're still working on house projects and it's summer with the kiddos and we're busy folks.  I have done a decent job at writing in my pregnancy journal though.  I'm glad we'll at least have that!  I did the same with Elinore, so it's nice to have that again.  Maybe soon I'll write a little about this pregnancy with some snipets from my handwritten pregnancy book for baby too.

A Letter to My Boys

Dear Caden & Guy,

I hope you know how much your sister looks up to you.  She lights up when you've been away and come around again.  I think she misses you when you're gone.  She always wants to tell you goodnight and are one of the first people she asks for in the mornings when she wakes up.  She wants to play with you and be with you around the house.  She's watching you and learning from you.  I pray you teach her well, not only now, but many years into the future.

She'll join you both in time out if for some reason you're there.  She wants to eat her meals with you, and if you are both done at the table, well then she is too, wether she's ate any food or not!  She loves you unconditionally, and I can see that you both lover her the same way.  Everynight before bed as you boys say your individual prayers, there is rarely a night when both of you don't thank God for your little sister.

I love watching the three of you develop this awesome sibling bond, and I can't wait to see you all join in with your nexest little sibling late this year!

With love,

Mom

Pee Pee in the Potty!

Tuesday nights this summer, I have class.  My last semester of graduate school classes!  Anyway, this Tuesday, we were just getting ready to start class when I received a text from Keith that  said:

"Elinor went pee pee in her potty!!!"

And I was so excited for her!  And so sad I wasn't home.

Elinore's been talking about the potty for a month or more now.  She knows what it's for and for a long time she'd sit on it, but only with her diaper on.  We haven't pushed her or anything, but just let it sit in the bathroom for her to see.  We talk about it with her too, but haven't pushed her to do anything.  She still isn't quite two yet!  But as she asks, we oblige!

Apparently Keith went to chage her diaper and she asked to go potty.  She walked him over there and made him take her diaper off and she peed in the potty!

When I got home that night Keith told me about it, and told me that not only did it happen once, before bed, she did it again, and the diaper was dry.

The next morning for me she went in the potty a tiny amount, but we celebrated anyway!

Another night this week, she wanted to go potty, so we got naked and went to the bathroom, where she peed on the bath rug.  Apparently, I didn't know that when she sits on the potty to pee, you have to sit on the potty too.  Now I know!

I know it's early, and we're not pushing her, but it is exciting to her her learning it all on her own and taking interest in it.

Nicknames

I think Elinore has coined a new nickname for Caleb.  She calls him Guy or Guys.  Caden she says very clearly and plainly, no problems, but Caleb, well, he's Guys.  It's taken us awhile to realize than when she says Guys she's really just referring to Caleb and not both of them!  At first, Caleb wasn't too happy about it, but now he smiles and goes along with it.  Keith and I are starting to call him Guys along with her some just for fun.  :)
