Maximizing Space

I have ran out of places to store certain things.  And the size of our family and in interest of being cost effective, we buy some things in large quantities.  Toilet paper is one of those items!  I don't know where to keep it because I've run our of room in the pantry where we had been keeping it.  So I came up with a new idea!

There is a door in our house that we never close.  I'm not sure why the door is even there really.  It stands open all the time creating this great little triangular space between to door and the corner and walls behind it.

It's our new toilet paper storage area, and not a guest in the house has noticed.  I'm not even sure my kids have found it yet!

Pee Pee?

I'm in the bathroom peeing.

Caleb opens the door himself and walks into the room.

Caleb: "Mommy, you have a pee pee?"

Me: Go pick up your toys right now!

I'm so not ready for that conversation.

Privacy needs to be better understood in my house.

Underwear

In our area there is a car dealership that goes by the name Underwood.  They're frequently advertising on our local radio station that we're often listening to in the car as we travel somewhere.

Every time we hear Underwood on the radio, one of the boys from the back seat proudly announces "They said UNDERWEAR!"  Followed by lots of giggles.

I chuckle along with them, then explain to them that they're actually saying Underwood, and that it is someone's name in town.

Caleb has moved on to saying "that's a funny name" every time we hear it!  Regardless one of them ALWAYS catches it on the radio, comments on it and giggles follow!

If it's yellow, let it mellow...

... if it's brown flush it down.

Is apparently the rule Caden follows.  Flushing the toilet is now optional.

Nearly every time I got to the bathroom, I pick up the lid to find pee.  There is ALWAYS pee in my toilet.  We could have just come home from being gone for an entire weekend camping or something, and there would still be pee in my toilet.  Let me just tell you, pee that has sat in the toilet bowl all weekend is not something you want to smell.

He goes so far as to not just not flush the toilet, but he hides it by closing the lid.  So if I go into the bathroom just to wash my hands, I won't notice that he didn't bother to flush.

Fortunately, I think he abides by the if it's brown flush it down rule as I have yet to find poop in my toilet, but not that I'm sharing that, I have a feeling I'll be finding a surprise soon.

Public Toilets

Caleb, as a general rule of thumb, does not like loud noises.

He especially does not like loud flushing toilets in public restrooms.

Typically, he'll have to look at several when you take him into the restroom so he can choose the one that looks like it will flush the quietest.

If he knows/thinks it's going to be really loud and is an automatic flush, he will stand to pee with his hands covering his ears.  This is quite a site to see, and doesn't help the aim.

He especially hates automatic flushing toilets.

When they flush before he's ready, I usually have to remind him to pull his pants up before he exits the stall.

I don't want to be the mom in the restroom with the 4 yo boys running around with his pee pee hanging out.

I'm sure many people have heard me talking him through peeing in public; hopefully some of them were moms themselves and understood, for the rest of you, hopefully it was good for a giggle or two for you.

Old Friend & Good Conversation

I'm posting twice in one day; what has gotten into me!?

I know, a glass of wine (or two), and an amazing phone conversation with one of my awesome friends Jackie!

Also, please let me clarify that by no means am I saying we are old, just that we've been friends for several years!

Jackie and I went to college together our freshmen year.  Then she transferred away, but we've managed to stay friends over the years.  We still both live in Ohio, for now anyway, but we only talk maybe twice a year!  I see here every few years, and love the time we spend together.  She's a friend I know, that when we talk on the rare occasion, it's like we picked up where we left forever ago, and I love that.

I am happy as pie right now.  There is not much that warms the soul better than a great conversation with an even better friend.

Love you Jackie!  (I wish you had a blog or twitter that I could link to.  Then I could share you awesomeness!)
