Ellie Rolls Over!

I thought the first time was just a fluke, but got the camera ready anyway!

This was her second time accomplishing rolling over.

She's not doing it regularly, but she sure does try!

She makes it to her side sometimes  and stops there, satisfied.

To Ellie: Your First Few Days

Our time in the hospital was peaceful.  Keith didn't like being stuck in the same room for multiple days, but it didn't bother me one bit to be in a room with you and Daddy with visits from my boys.  Being a new parent wasn't terribly difficult in the hospital when you have nurses around to help!  I was anxious about going home and being on our own with you.

While we were in the hospital, we choose to keep you in the room with us the whole time; I couldn't bear the thought of you not being there with us!  In fact, I kept your little cradle/crib as close to my bed as possible.  The foot of the bed wasn't close enough for me.

Your first few days, your tiny little wrinkled hands reminded me of my grandmothers.  Now they are plump and round.  Now, when we're breastfeeding, I love seeing those cute little hands rest on me, even when you're using them to block my view of you.

Upon coming home, I loved sitting and holding you while breathing in the smell of you.  I still do.   That first week, we couldn't hardly put you down.  I didn't want to share you!

Your big brothers are over the moon excited about you.  They are full of questions about you, and I can even seem them starting to be protective of you.  They are so very excited for you to come to the babysitters with them when I go back to work.  Mommy on the other hand, is already not looking forward to that day.

Manners? A thing of the past?

When I was a kid, there were some other kids close to my age in the neighborhood and we commonly played together, especially during the summers since we were home all day at our houses with our moms or babysitters.  If we wanted to play together, we called or walked to their house and asked if they could come over.

Now, as some kids have moved into our neighborhood and our boys are older and interested in playing with other kids, I have to ask; are those manners we had as kids a thing of the past?

My experience with neighbor kids has not been positive thus far.  The lack of manners is bothersome.  It has brought on a whole new set of lessons to teach my boys about manners and politeness!

The Circus - Caden & Caleb Style

A few days after Ellie came home, the boys decided to put on a circus for their baby sister and Daddy and me.  They arranged it in the play room, set up chairs for us, and put on a show!  It was magnificent!

Bedtime Prayers

Tonight during bedtime prayers, as we usually do, the boys shared what they are thankful for.

Caden said thank you for the rain we needed, for playing in the rain today, and for mud puddles to jump in.

Caleb asked for help for us to love others and for help for those without homes.
I love that we are raising our children to know God.
